2025.01.09
Data released by the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing on the 8th showed that the annual average value of China's Warehousing Index in 2025 was 50.7%, an increase of 1.3 percentage points compared to 2024, indicating a sustained recovery and positive development in the industry.
In December 2025, China's Warehousing Index rebounded to 52.4%. Looking at the whole year, in 2025, China's Warehousing Index operated steadily overall, exhibiting a trend of "high at both ends and low in the middle." The annual average was 50.7%, indicating that the industry continued to recover and develop positively. Meanwhile, the fluctuation range of the Warehousing Index that year was significantly narrower than that of 2024, indicating that the industry's development resilience had increased and its internal stability had improved. On a quarterly basis, the average was 51.2% in the first quarter; it fell slightly in the second quarter; it continued to slow down in the third quarter due to seasonal factors; and it stabilized and rebounded in the fourth quarter driven by a rebound in demand.
According to the analysis, the following prominent characteristics are observed from the trend of sub-indices: Firstly, the demand foundation is more solid, with the new orders index remaining above 50% for most months throughout the year, supporting sustained business activity. Secondly, turnover efficiency remains high. Except for a few months affected by short-term weather factors, the average inventory turnover times index has operated at a relatively high level in the expansion range for most of the time, indicating smooth upstream and downstream connections in the supply chain and high efficiency in commodity circulation. Thirdly, inventory adjustments have become more rational. The average inventory index at the end of the period increased by 1.3 percentage points compared to the same period in 2024, and the downward trend in inventory has slowed down, indicating that corporate confidence is gradually increasing and inventory adjustment behavior is becoming more prudent.
According to analysis, on the whole, against the backdrop of sustained macroeconomic policy support and the deepening implementation of measures to reduce logistics costs across society, China's warehousing industry will see further improvements in its operating environment in 2025. Market demand is expected to continue to rebound, supply and demand will become more smoothly aligned, and enterprises are anticipating stable and positive developments. The industry's steady and positive growth trend is being consolidated. It is expected that in 2026, as the endogenous driving forces of the economy are further unleashed, China's warehousing industry will continue to maintain stable and positive performance, providing efficient support for the circulation of the real economy.
